My name is Pat Breslin and I’m running for reelection to the Bridgewater Raritan Board of Education.
If you have any questions concerning my candidacy or about the issues facing the District please feel free to email me at BreslinBOE@verizon.net
My wife and I have lived in Bridgewater for more than 19 years. We have two daughters, a 9th grader sharing time between VoTech and BR High School and an 8th grader at Bridgewater Raritan Middle School.
I’m running for reelection because my community deserves a school system that is high in quality, wide with opportunity and affordable to the taxpayer. My degree in Education and a lifetime of experience in business and management give me the perspective and skills to deal with our challenges.
We deserve to be a model of academic excellence. We need to continue to tailor our elementary school programs to meet the developmental needs of all children. We need to redouble our efforts at our intermediate and middle school levels to accommodate the spectrum of developmental growth rates across all subject areas. At the high school level we need to continue stressing achievement and provide the flexibility required to meet the needs of students regardless of their choice of careers.
We need to maximize our investment in our personnel. More than just recruiting the right people, we need to have an environment that encourages continuous personal improvement.
We need to protect our facilities investments. More than 10,000 students and employees work and learn in our buildings daily. They deserve a safe environment that promotes education.
We need to leverage investments in technology to control costs, improve learning environments and preserve our infrastructure.
I want our children to have access not just to a good education but a great one. I want them to have an education that is high in quality and wide with opportunity.
A great education requires excellence in academics to prepare students for their life's work, helps build their character and promote physical health through athletics, and enriches their spirit and potential for expression through the arts.
As a taxpayer and I want my community to have a school district it can be proud of and it can afford.
A great school district enriches the community by developing the mind, body and spirit of its students, this promotes the quality of life in the community and makes that community an attractive place for businesses and people to locate and invest.
As a volunteer and an elected Member of the Board I’ve tried to apply my educational, managerial and career experiences to the needs and challenges of our school district. I’m proud of how our community has come together, even in times of economic crisis, to continually improve the services we provide for our children.
I appreciate your consideration and I look forward to hearing from you about what's most important from your perspective.
